Painting
This is a painting I did a few years ago. You will also see a section of it in my header. I used acrylic paints as the medium.

Sabor

Photograph of package design for a fictitious chocolate company in the Dominican Republic. A case study was performed on a foreign country consisting of research, mood boarding and color pallets
resulting in logo and package design. From there I produced a 32 page book including each stage and the final product.

Fashion Show
I’ve been doing hair and makeup voluntarily for about 9 years for weddings, dances and special events. A couple years ago I worked at Macy’s in cosmetics as a beauty adviser. In February, through word of mouth, I was asked to do hair and makeup for an annual Fashion Show at the Granada Theatre in The Dalles. All of the local boutiques and salons from Hood River and The Dalles were involved, showing their latest trends and clothing. It was an interesting and expected rush. From experience, I know there is never enough time, you’re always rushing, people are standing over your shoulder asking for direction, when they will be up, where their dress is, etc etc. By the last girl we were walking down the hall towards the stage while finishing her makeup. But it is well wroth all the stress. It’s an great sense of accomplishment watching those girls on stage and knowing they look great and you had a part in it. The theme was Princess Warrior so I mainly went with the gold flakes, black bands tapering off towards the temple and pink or teals blended from the eyes to the cheek bones. (If for some reason you’re ever interested in using gold flakes like in photos below, you can find them at Michael’s and use eyelash glue to adhere to face or any surface. Department stores no longer sell it, found that out the hard way.)
These are some examples I used as inspiration.

Logo Development – Gus Nicklos
After presenting my portfolio to Gus on Monday, he shared with me his behance site where he displays some of his work. There is an interesting video on the development of a logo he did for Fercak Guitars.
About: “Gus Nicklos is a brand, typography and design specialist based in Portland, Oregon. He has worked on global campaigns for companies such as Nike, Starbucks, Adidas and Jantzen. Recently he has focused his creative energy in building brands for socially relevant and green business start ups. He is senior designer at Totem (UK) and runs Gus Nicklos Studio in Portland. He also teaches Visual Communication at Pacific Northwest College of Art.”
Here is the link to his logo development. If you scroll down a bit you can watch a video from beginning stages through the end and his process. Very good example of how repetition of shape and balance builds such strength in a design.

Jacqueline Bissett Illustrations
Jacqueline Bissett has recently become one of my favorite fashion illustrators. She has a very gestural way of illustrating through use of traditional mediums. Showing just enough, but also leaves parts for us to piece together. I love the simplicity of a single stroke representing a women’s shoulder or strand of hair. This shown through thick and thin lines, dark and lighter tones, and few strokes that taper off. I can visualize her designs on magazine covers, billboards and displayed inside department stores. And they definitely are. Some of her clients are Givenchy, Escada, Simon & Schuster, Sunday Times, Myla, Orion, Glamour and Gloss.
To see more of her work go to illustrationweb. Another cool site is Fashionary featuring 30 Fashion Illustrators you can’t miss.
